The Queen, attending the parade remembering Allied victory

Britain has marked 70 years since the victory in World War 2 with a series of festivities and concerts. Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II has attended the religious service held in Westminster Abbey to commemorate the victims of the largest war in history. The number of people killed in the six years conflict are estimated between 50 and 85 million people.
In a time when the specter of a world war is again very menacing, the sermon reminded all those gathered in Westminster that the hope of a peaceful world has been in the hearts of all right after the war ended. In respect to this, the bells in all England were rang at 11 o’clock on Sunday.

Branded as VE Day, 10th of May marks the victory of Allied forces, that included United States, Soviet Russia, Great Britain and France, against Germany in Europe. The war in Asia had continued until the defeat of Japan through the usage of atomic bombs.

The religious service was followed in London by a military parade. The guests of this were about one thousand veterans of the war, that were welcomed with great admiration by the crowds that applauded and cheered for them. Tourists were also able to admire the beautiful ceremonial uniforms of British army, especially the red coats of infantry, the Royal Air Force and the Royal Navy.

Among those present at the event were the Duchess of Cornwall, Camilla Parker, the mayor of London, Boris Johnson and Nigel Farage, resigned leader of UKIP.
