6000 people spent a night at the Opera in Bucharest

The new season was opened in the first day of fall with an already traditional open air concert for Romanian Opera lovers. The event took place on the loan in front of the National Opera Theater in Bucharest. The audience was far more numerous than the seats prepared on the green area where the statue of composer George Enescu sits, so people gathered to quietly lay on the grass to listen some famous lyrical passages.

The orchestra was conducted by Tiberiu Soare, the manager of Bucharest Opera, and was presented by singer Vlad Miriță and ballet dancer Monica Petrică. The chorus, that gave grandeur to the concert was conducted by Stelian Olariu.

The artists invited were: Adriana Dumitriu, Ionuț Hotea, Iordache Basalic, Andrada Ioana Roșu, Marcel Roșca, Cristian Mogoșan, Emanuela Pascu, Ionuț Pascu and Andreea Iftimescu.

The program included famous pieces like: Bacchanale from Samson and Delilah by Camille Saint Saens, Soldiers’ Chorus from Faust by Charles Gounoud, Te Deum from Tosca by Giacomo Puccini, Sailors’ Chorus from The Flying Dutchman by Richard Wagner, Habanera from Carmen by Georges Bizet, Regina Coeli from Cavalleria rusticana by Pietro Mascagni, Triumphant March from Aida by Giuseppe Verdi, Don Carlo’s theme from Ermani by Giuseppe Verdi, Gipsy Chorus from The Troubadour by Giuseppe Verdi, Slaves Chorus from Nabucco by Giuseppe Verdi and the Finale from Turandot by Giaccomo Puccini.

As one of the aims of this event was to popularize this genre and to open it to new young audiences, Verdi was the most used author, as this Italian composer is very popular with Latin audience and general public, with his rhythmic and melodic lines. The spectacle ended with a fireworks after the great Finale that enchanted the public.
